With MOVING DUST: SOMETIMES THERE’S LIGHT (sometimes there’s dark)
GARTH MCCONAGHIE was a featured composer at the recent BAFTA Rocliffe Forum, & his TV work ranges diversely from BBC documentaries to scoring for animation, including the national BBC Comic Relief film MALARIA written by Richard Curtis & narrated by Martin Freeman. This was subsequently broadcast to over 215 countries as part of the 2010 FIFA Wold Cup closing ceremony in South Africa. Garth is the main composer on the BBC NI series DAYS LIKE THIS nominated for an Irish Film & TV award. Other TV work includes: WEE WISE WORDS (BBC NI), ON THE AIR (BBC NI, Gerry Anderson), 4THOUGHT.TV (Channel 4), NOT NOW FARLEY (BBC Learning Zone) & A YEAR IN SEX CITY (BBC 1). Garth scored the film CASA DE VIDRO which was exhibited at the Architecture Museum in Basil, Switzerland, & transferred to the Pavilion d’Arsenal, Paris. Other work includes co-writing, producing, & arranging BLESSED BE THE ONE for Joanne (sister of Johnny) Cash, Malachi Cush (BBC Fame Academy) & the Ulster Orchestra. This reached #1 in the NCM Country Chart & has since been played on over 350 international stations. Recent theatre work includes three new musicals for YMT UK with ‘There Must Be More’ from GRACE ONLINE contributing to Trinity’s intermediate level songbook (published by Faber/Trinity Guildhall). The third of these MACBETH has just finished a run at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast. Garth has also worked with several N. Irish theatre companies. Recently: BULLETPROOF (Replay Productions); THE SCARLET WWWEB (Big Telly); FORGET TURKEY 2013 & FORGET TURKEY 2014 (Lyric Theatre, Belfast). Egg will tour the USA & Hong Kong for 10 months in 2015, & Nivelli’s War is currently nominated for a UK Theatre Award.
